Zelda Ruth Johnson

Zelda Ruth Johnson, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2021. Born the youngest of 11 siblings to Bernard Lee Sadler and Minerva Estelle Lundie in Chesterfield County Virginia, Zelda graduated from Colonial Heights High School in Virginia in 1966. She worked for the Federal Government as secretary to the Commander of the 1st Instructor Company, 4th Battalion Quarter Master School Brigade, Fort Lee, Virginia until 1971 where she met her future husband Frank W. Johnson. She moved to New York and took a position as secretary to the NE Regional Director of Xerox Corporation marrying Frank in 1973. The couple raised their two daughters while transitioning from Tarrytown, NY, to Lynchburg, VA to Troy, MI, then Lancaster, OH, before settling in Westerville, OH in 1988. In 1998 Zelda became a Realtor for Coldwell Banker then AO Real Estate while volunteering at both St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lancaster and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Westerville. Both daughters graduated from Westerville North HS where Zelda strongly supported the sports boosters. Zelda was a devoted wife, mom, and a loving "Grammie". She was known for her Southern Cooking - especially fried chicken, potato salad and deviled eggs. She enjoyed digging in the dirt to keep all her flowers blooming and making treats for her neighbors' and grand dogs. Zelda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Frank W. Johnson, Westerville; sisters Patsy Moore, Herndon, VA, and Nancy Church, Colonial Heights, VA; daughters and husbands - Dr. Brandi (Johnson) Raycheck and Jeromy Raycheck of South Lebanon, OH and Dr. Holly (Johnson) Moose and Daniel Moose of Westerville; and 4 grandchildren - Mitchell and Natalie Raycheck and Zachary and Abigail Moose. Friends may call at the Moreland Funeal Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Thursday 5-7 p.m.. Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 E. Walnut Street, Westerville, OH Friday at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Jonathan Bull, officiating. Interment St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Frank, Holly, Brandi I am so very sorry for your (our) loss. Zelda was a wonderful women, whenever I was able to visit she always made me feel as if I was family. If I stayed too long each time I visited I am sure I would have gained weight on each of those visits. Frank, you are my best friend, Holly, Brandi I followed your lives and success via your Mom and Dad. I will miss Zelda very much, I will never forget her, she was a great lady. God bless Zelda and her family.

Frank & Family, Marsha and I were sad to hear about Zelda. I really enjoyed working closely with Zelda all those years when she was my assistant. She kept me so organized which allowed me to do what I did best, work with clients. Since I retired we have moved to South Carolina so we will not be able to attend the funeral services.
