Dennis E. Dilger, Denny, age 71 passed away November 9, 2021 at Country Club Retirement Center, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents, Frederick W. (1966) and Thelma B. (2020) Dilger. Survived by former spouse Betsy and their children, son, Mike (Tiffeney), grandson, Drew, granddaughter, Erin, step-grandson, Byron Spruill, and daughter, Kim (Jeremy), grandsons Evan and Carter, sister Donna (David) Miller, niece Andrea, great nephew Dean Mason, and many cousins. Denny was born April 19, 1950 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio and graduated Centerburg High School in 1968. He was a volunteer fireman for Hilliar Township, a 50-year Masonic member of the Mt. Zion Lodge #9, a proud Teamster member for 39 years, last working for ABF Freight. An avid lover of classic cars, even owning a few. Whenever family or friends needed help, he was there, to bale hay, to move households, or to pull for the champion tug-of-war team. Never knowing a stranger, he had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great story teller. Denny could bring smiles and laughter, no matter the circumstance. Calling hours are 5-8PM Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Johnson Melick Moreland Funeral Home, 49 Church St, Centerburg, Ohio 43011. Graveside service at Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg, 10 AM, November 12, 2021. Elmer Ball officiating. In lieu of flowers Denny requests donations be made to Central Ohio Joint Fire District, 5138 Columbus Rd., Centerburg, or to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Rd, Mt Vernon, OH 43050.

Although we have always lived so far apart and our times together as family have diminished thru the years, we have so many great memories of spending time together with Denny. He was always the one to make you laugh and always the catalyst for a good time. As we got older whenever we talked he was always interested in what was happening in our lives and rarely, if ever, complained about the struggles he was facing. We are blessed with the great memories he has left us with and will cherish forever. While we will not be physically present for the funeral service, rest assured you all will supported in our thoughts and prayers. Mike B. for All
